We nurture community and our extraordinary Loreto Kirribilli spirit!
In addition to all of the main events organised by various P&F sub-committees throughout the year, (see the summary of events below) each year group also enjoys social activities on a smaller scale. Class parents help to arrange informal cocktail parties in someone’s home, class dinners, morning teas, class picnics, class walks, etc… You can be as involved as you choose to be.
Loreto Kirribilli is a very welcoming school, and the P&F endeavours to help parents feel comfortable, and to give them the opportunity to make friends and to feel a sense of belonging. We believe it is important to share the ‘Loreto Spirit’ around, as we know how infectious it can be!
The P&F and Class Parents meet once a term at 8am. The meeting dates are in the school calendar, on Kirri and highlighted in the school newsletters. In Terms 1 and 3 there are two additional Class Parent meetings that follow directly on from the P&F meeting. Sometimes, guest speakers are invited along.
The P&F Executive is made up of a male and female president, a male and female vice-president, a treasurer, an assistant treasurer, a secretary and an assistant secretary. All are appointed by the Principal. Class Parents volunteer in late Term 3 each year. It is a lot of work, but rewarding for individuals and especially for the school – and a lot of fun along the way!
The P&F always welcome new families to the school with a delicious morning tea and a friendly chat (and tissues for Kindy parents on their first day at Loreto).
This whole-of-school event is always held on a balmy Friday evening in February to welcome in the new school year; a fabulous evening on the Front Driveway overlooking the Harbour.
The Luncheon is hosted each year and has an educational or social justice theme. There is always an engaging speaker and it is well worth the effort to attend.
These are organised, as a fundraiser for the Spring Fair, by the P&F for the girls each term. The girls love to see their parents at the School to serve lunch. It is great fun to help BBQ with other parents and get to know those not in your year.
Always a special day not to be missed. A BBQ follows where the dads can mingle – they love this opportunity to spend time with their daughters!
This bi-annual P&F event is a major fund-raiser. A lot of hard work goes into this themed night, traditionally held in June, by the Winter Dinner Committee. Anyone with an interest in events planning is welcome to become involved in the Winter Dinner each year.
This bi-annual event alternates with the Winter Dinner and is a men’s only evening.
Every year the P&F from both schools enjoy one another’s company at alternate venues and celebrate the common bond of being Loreto schools in the same city. There is always an interesting speaker and it’s fun to see the other Loreto school. Next year the Morning Tea will be in May at Loreto Normanhurst.
This fun-filled day is always a real crowd pleaser, building incredible community spirit within the school. The day starts at 9:00am with a Family Mass in the Centenary Hall. Directly afterwards the fair ‘opens for business’. Various rides, craft and food stalls, a fashion parade and a champagne bar are regular favourites.Keep an eye out for notification of this wonderful event and mark it in your diary. If you haven’t been to the Loreto Spring Fair before, then treat your family and yourself to a great day out. If you would like to be involved, just contact the P&F presidents.
