Our latest networking event LK Connect: Wildlife and the Environment was generously hosted by current parent Richard Kovacs, Chairman of the Ottomin Foundation, and Taronga Institute of Science & Learning, our educational partner.
Taronga Institute of Science and Learning is a living laboratory for conservation education and scientific investigation, built to empower the scientists of tomorrow. An extraordinary line up of panellists highlighted the variety of roles at Taronga in conservation, research, education and recreation - with the one goal, protecting the environment.
The panel was hosted by Stephanie Hart , Senior Philanthropy Manager, Taronga Foundation, Taronga Conservation Society Australia, and facilitated by Emma Thompson , University Program Manager and Lecturer at Taronga Conservation Society Australia.
Guest speakers and panellists included:
Belinda Fairbrother
Manager, Guest Learning and Community Impact, Taronga Conservation Society Australia
Dr Justine O’Brien
Manager, Conservation Science, Taronga Conservation Society Australia
Dr Gabrielle Tobias (’88)
Veterinary Officer, Taronga Wildlife Hospital Sydney
and
Rebecca Maas (’87)
Exotic Fauna Trainee Keeper within the primate team, Taronga Zoo
Each panellist was passionate about their chosen field in wildlife and conservation, and profiled the many twists and turns in their career journey. Our alumni highlighted the generosity of spirit and values they received from a Loreto Kirribilli education, establishing foundations to form good workplace relationships and shared opportunities. All panellists encouraged our students and alumni to embrace volunteer opportunities and persist with your passion to achieve your goals. We thank Stephanie Hart from the Taronga Foundation for facilitating this panel.
LK Connect events provide a corporate platform to mentor and network our alumni, whilst providing opportunities for our current students to explore career avenues in a variety of industries.
