LK Connect Women in Property
Our most recent event, LK Connect ‘Women in Property’ hosted by Charter Hall was a night of networking, engagement, and inspiration! The room was filled with ex-students, current students, Board members, staff and parents. The panellists gave an insightful account of the sophisticated property and construction industry and delved into the opportunities and challenges for women in the sector.
The Facilitator for the evening was Amanda Kenny (’80), Non-Executive Director Charter Hall Investment Management Ltd and the panellists included Carmel Hourigan, Office CEO, Charter Hall, Deborah Coakley (’90), Executive General Manager, Funds Management, Dexus and Dr Sarah Hill (’95), Executive Project Director in the Projects section of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The panellists were joined by Notable Guest, Alice Dodwell (’99), National Capital Works Manager for Office at Charter Hall.
The property and construction industry is Australia’s largest employer, offering an array of career paths. At Charter Hall, the top 50 degrees represented in their workforce range from accounting, commerce, business and property economics to IT, electrical engineering, psychology, computer engineering, marketing, urban planning, journalism, graphic design, hospitality, tourism, international business and education. This industry is mobile, allowing you to move your skills across sectors and geographies, domestically, regionally and internationally.
Some key takeaways from the evening included keep learning, property is a real, active and meaningful industry and embrace being a woman in industry, but ‘know your stuff’! Each speaker spoke passionately about supporting other women.
LK Connect corporate network evenings continue to profile the career expertise of our ex-students and I encourage you to attend future events. Our ex-students are truly inspirational. Please contact us should your company be interested in hosting an LK Connect industry event.
