Thank you to Multiplex for the Jump Start initiative, a program designed to educate and inspire young women to consider a career in the built environment. Students from Years 10-12 have attended a series of workshops, career events and site visits showcasing the many varied opportunities that exist in the industry. Throughout this year, students have attended:
A university networking evening focusing on STEM and construction/project management courses.
An industry professionals networking evening with several companies currently working with Multiplex on their major projects (e.g. Next DC Artarmon, the Western Sydney Airport, Chatswood Chase refurbishment).
A workshop on how architects and landscape architects go about their work.
A workshop on how builders and engineers go about their work.
A workshop on how specialist consultants from Aurecon go about their work when collaborating with Multiplex (e.g. hydraulics, electrical, security cameras, etc.).
The participating Loreto Kirribilli students have been wonderful ambassadors for our school, getting involved, forming networking relationships with women working in the built environment, and approaching every task with enthusiasm. One Year 12 student has secured multiple work experience placements with Multiplex at a time when she is making decisions about her path after school. Participation in this program has also led to work experience placement opportunities with Multiplex for some of our Year 10 students.
We look forward to continuing our journey with Multiplex, building relationships and widening the pool of female talent in the construction industry.
