In Year 7 students study all three languages - Italian, French and Mandarin. In Year 8 students select to continue with one of these.
Studying Mandarin "Students in Years 7 and 8 have the opportunity to study Mandarin. This gives a wonderful insight into culture, customs and way of life, as students address themes such as: meeting people; family life; pets and animals; leisure time and hobbies; friends; eating and drinking; daily routine; health and fitness."
Making Music "Music in Years 7 and 8 is an introduction to the concepts of music, giving students the opportunity to listen to, improvise, create, sing and play contrasting compositions. Performance, composition and music software programs are all part of the course!"
Students study both mandatory and elective subjects.
Students are given the choice of four elective subjects:
200 hour courses include:
Commerce, Design & Technology, Drama, Food Technology, French, Italian, Mandarin, Music, Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS), Photography & Digital Media, Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM), Visual Arts and Academic Enrichment.
100 hour courses include:
Creative Communication, Design & Technology, Drama, Food Technology, Geography, History, Photography & Digital Media, Thinking & Advocacy, Visual Arts and Academic Enrichment.
This course targets highly able and gifted students who have displayed strong academic abilities, and aptitude for thinking deeply and flexibly. Most importantly, it targets students who wish to transfer their learning from the classroom to the real world, as a significant component of the course allows student choice to guide the direction of learning.
Creative Communication empowers students to be critical consumers and creators of moving image and involves innovative ways of telling stories and creating representations of the world.
Enter the creative and inspiring world of innovation by exploring ways to apply principles of science, technology and mathematics. Develop skills and knowledge of engineering, seeking ways to solve global problems and build a knowledge of living and working things in our world!
This is an exciting time for you! You have the opportunity to have some fun in choosing subjects you are passionate about. Years 9 and 10 are a time where you can take some positive risks with your learning, and undertake challenges to further engage you in your education.

Year 10 PDHPE was one of my favourite subjects this year... Developing an importance for physical activity in young girls in today’s society, where so much reliance is on ICT and our phones, has been a priority for our Year 10 teachers and cohort... I am really looking forward to PDHPE next year!
